Day 1: Classroom & Casting Session
Friday, September 20th, 2024
The adventure begins Friday afternoon at the Ketchum Fire Department, where we’ll dive into the essentials of fly fishing—exploring gear, learning techniques, and discussing what it takes to be successful on the water. This classroom session will provide everything needed to know to get started.
After covering the basics, we’ll head to Atkinsons Park for a hands-on casting lesson. Here, we’ll have the opportunity to put theory into practice, trying out different casting techniques and preparing for the water on Day 2. Don’t worry about equipment—everything will be provided.

Day 2: Full Day on the Water
Saturday, September 21st, 2024
Saturday is where the real adventure begins. We’ll meet in the morning at Picabo Angler for a full day of fishing, with all gear—rods, waders, and more—provided to ensure participants are fully immersed in the experience. This day is all about putting what’s been learned into action, with plenty of time to refine techniques and enjoy the tranquility of the water.
To get the most out of the day, participants are asked to come prepared with thick socks, a long-sleeved shirt for sun protection, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Dressing in layers is key, as the temperature can change throughout the day. A delicious lunch from Sawtooth Brewery will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring extra snacks and drinks to stay energized.
A valid fishing license is required for the day, and can be purchase ahead of time or grabbed at Picabo Angler the morning of the event. Transportation and securing a fishing license will be up to participants, but we’ll handle the rest—guides, gear, and an unforgettable experience on the water.
